Anyone Can Be a BUDDY!

Friends, family, neighbors, legislators and celebrities can participate and promote the importance of understanding, acceptance and awareness of those with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk® is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join the Buddy Walk®.
TEAMS
Organize a group from your workplace, school, or community and support people with Down syndrome while building team spirit. Make banners, signs, etc. and show off your team. Largest Collegiate Team will win a trophy—team and members must be pre-registered to qualify.

Tips to Raise $500 in One Week

 

• Day 1: Start by sponsoring yourself for $25
• Day 2: Ask three family members to sponsor you for $25
• Day 3: Ask five friends to donate $15
• Day 4: Ask five co-workers to sponsor you for $10
• Day 5: E-mail 15 people and ask for a $10 donation
• Day 6: Ask your company for a $75 contribution

About Buddy Walk

The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Over the past 16 years, the Buddy Walk program has grown from 17 walks to nearly 300 expected in 2011 across the country and around the world. Last year alone, 285,000 people participated in a Buddy Walk!
 
The Buddy Walk® is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join the Buddy Walk®.

 

What: There will be activities for the kids, fellowship, music, entertainment, great food and the walk. Teams will be able to set up tents. Buddies will be recognized on a special display. Don't forget the raffle and silent auction for great prizes!

Who: Bring your family, friends and neighbors to support your Buddy!

When: The walk is October 6h, but register now! Registrations received after September 20th isn’t guaranteed t-shirt availability due to ordering deadlines, but we will have extras. Online registration is open until October 4th and on-site registration is also available. There is still time!

Where: The Walk will be held at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. There is plenty of parking and room for everyone to enjoy the festivities! Bring lawn chairs or blankets for picnic style eating.

Schedule: 11:30am check in and activities will begin, 12pm opening ceremonies, 12:15 Blinn Student Physical Therapy Assistant Program Students- Stretch Session, 12:30 one-mile Buddy Walk 1pm talent show/entertainment begins, 2:30 silent auction ends, 3pm raffle drawing.
